It enables many of MF's long-time fans, those who discovered him in the early 1970s, to better appreciate his pre-1970 work, or shall I say his pre-Keith Mansfield work. Many fans my age had trouble coming across pre-1970 recordings back in the day. They might have to be special-ordered or you might have to go to a big city exotic record shop. And mostly when we did discover them, they just weren't "hip" enough for us, by our taste at the time. Today we can go on YouTube and be far more impressed. Mansfield needs credit for totally revitalizing MF's career, to give it the kind of smoothed-over sound that kids of the time wanted. It was essential. Today I enjoy the pre-1970 stuff even more than much of his 1970s work, although I'm happy that the latter was good for MF's pocketbook.
