I can do 4 part harmony in a Christmas choir, love to sing, have a wide range, but never yet have I been able to sing along with the lowest 2 voices of the Freshmen, That is what has kept them beguiling me all these years! Like Bach Fugues, intelligent, unique harmonizing. Taking a tune like And Their Hearts Were Full of Spring and bringing me to tears. Take my advice, don't use your good CD's in the car, make a copy or be so sad like me that Rain now has a skip in it, and it isn't available to hear on YouTube for some reason. Well, TG, I can order a new CD, 5 Guitars and 5 Saxes from the Four Freshmen Society. There must be someone else in Vernon, B.C. who is also a big fan? Of course I have that Mosaic set but also the rest on different LPs / CDs and some unissued stuff from the Netherlands concerts.
The Four Freshmen mainatained the high quality of vocal group singing from groupp 1 to group 24. Sometimes the selection of songs was a bit unlucky but they are still my favorite vocal group after all these years.
Willie
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6853772569125614798.post-46883518763860951272014-02-04T18:32:40.962-08:002014-02-04T18:32:40.962-08:00Great article but fire the proofreader.
