I'...Fascinating to read such a complete history. I've loved these recordings for years, have the CD box set and the supplementary CD The Lost Tapes. My first LP in the series, bought a long time ago and still on my shelf, was Action.<br />Gene Lees has a bit on Tatum and Oscar in his biography. Tatum recognised the talent of Peterson, and said something along the lines of "can you just hold off a while until I've finished my run?" Personally I prefer the MPS recordings to any I've heard of Art Tatum, who has the irritating habit of inserting decorative but insubstantial arpeggios on a regular basis.
