It appears they already have a few. So did any of you "proofreaders" read the article for actual content?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6853772569125614798.post-1988629563914527122020-12-21T10:06:12.381-08:002020-12-21T10:06:12.381-08:00As an academic, Mr. Siegel should know the spellin...As an academic, Mr. Siegel should know the spelling of 'timbre'(not timber). And pray tell what does he mean by 'Trixie (sic)Ain't Walking'. You mention the "editorial staff" at Jazz Profiles: does it not include a copy editor or proofreader?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6853772569125614798.post-12294661939050288442020-12-21T06:30:31.639-08:002020-12-21T06:30:31.639-08:00I first heard Jimmy Rushing on the Epic Records re...I first heard Jimmy Rushing on the Epic Records release of Lester Young/Count Basie (now part of Mosaic's set.) I was a kid and still awestruck at the power and rhythmic excitement he produced. Later I got "Rushing Lullabies" with those fabulous blues and that marvelous verse that begins, "If my pa don't want me, cast me in the deep blue sea." And then I had the chance to hear him live at Half Note backed by Zoot Sims, where he attacked "Blue Skies" to create an unforgettable interpretation of the Berlin standard. I wish I could have met him that night to express my admiration.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01075643928936259273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6853772569125614798.post-87635487134652018822020-12-20T14:08:38.701-08:002020-12-20T14:08:38.701-08:00Al "Cohn, not Cohen."

He was featured on the 2 LP Columbia release singing "Brussels Blues" and "Mr. Five By Five". Further, as the MusicMasters release of 1989 documents, he was featured on many other songs with the band.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6853772569125614798.post-77729693172760357412020-10-29T17:17:59.212-07:002020-10-29T17:17:59.212-07:00Earlier in the article it clearly indicates that R...Earlier in the article it clearly indicates that Rushing did record 3 albums for Vanguard.
