It's such a shame how he ended up. Didn't know he was raised in Jersey, so that was an interesting surprise. These quotes from him are incredible. I have not since then heard a nicer saxophone player than Hank Mobley. Many are great but Mobley sounds very natural, very fluent, very understandable, very balanced.Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03873176455484384464noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6853772569125614798.post-48627875373002679762019-01-10T08:05:24.095-08:002019-01-10T08:05:24.095-08:00Thank you so much for the great posting. I then saw him at Dino's lounge along with Bootsie Barnes, this might have been around 1977. Compared to his records, at this time Hank was not playing at a high level, possibly due to being sick, not sure. I remember he asked me for money to purchase a beer.robert stonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07665465443115623913noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6853772569125614798.post-55287507316029475232018-07-11T15:10:06.051-07:002018-07-11T15:10:06.051-07:00Thank you very much for posting this, I have been ...Thank you very much for posting this, I have been looking for something like this for years!Martinnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6853772569125614798.post-43473863521038524762018-04-07T11:11:39.202-07:002018-04-07T11:11:39.202-07:00This article was thoroughly enjoyable. Curtis Peagler was the main steady player (alto). Many big name musicians appeared there. Curtis eventually joined Basie. SandyRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01282178521421413726noreply@blogger.com
