Leroy V̲i̲n̲n̲e̲gar Se̲x̲t̲e̲t – ̲L̲e̲r̲oy ̲W̲a̲l̲k̲s̲! (̲1̲9̲5̲7̲)̲

It's the anniversary of bassist Leroy Vinnegar's birth [1928-1999].

Bassist Leroy Vinnegar's July, 1957 debut album, thanks to the kindness of Lester Koenig of Contemporary Records, features three arrangements by vibraphonist and pianist Victor Feldman.
Victor had joined Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse all-stars earlier that year and was rapidly becoming an in-demand session player.
The band features Gerald Wilson on trumpet, Teddy Edwards on tenor saxophonist, Carl Perkins on piano and newcomer Tony Bazely on drums.
Playing only vibes on the date, Victor told me that during the sessions he was "taking arranging lessons from Gerald" and "piano lessons from Carl [which he literally did before Carl's untimely death at the age of 29].
